Sheonah said: “The Roses Academy trial was full of exceptional talent and the long squad’s development both on and off the court, over the last four months, was demonstrated over the weekend.

“The athletes in the long squad have all shown outstanding resilience in this time, as well the drive to adapt to the environments we have had to create, and a testament to the work within the pathway. I look forward to seeing them all develop in their franchises over the next couple of months.

“This new selected group of athletes will face another camp in May before a competition in July, and the team and I look forward to this next part of the Roses Academy 2021.”

The Roses Academy long squad was first selected in December 2020 allowing more athletes than ever before, the opportunity to experience the Roses Academy programme. The group trained together virtually and had access to educational sessions on Zoom throughout lockdown, as well as coming together for a day camp in March.

The selection for the Roses Academy 2021/22 will be in August.
