England Netball is delighted to announce that Mark Evans has been appointed as the new independent chairman of the Vitality Netball Superleague. Mark is a highly successful leader, with a broad range of experience within commercial sport, elite performance and education. He has a proven track record in driving the management of strategic change and business growth by creating a positive collaborative culture amongst all stakeholders.

With a strong career forged in the education and sport sectors, Mark has been involved in professional sport for more than two decades with senior, high profile positions at top level rugby union and league clubs in both England and Australia, including Saracens, Harlequins and Melbourne Storm. He is currently the founder and director of Capacity Consulting, which specialises in providing advice and project delivery to the sports industry. In this role, his expertise particularly lies in the areas of crowd growth, match day revenues, stadium development, culture development and strategic review.

Commenting on the appointment Colin Povey Chairman of England Netball said: ‘We are delighted to have secured the services of someone of Mark’s calibre for this important role. He was the stand-out candidate in a strong field of applicants and I am sure he will bring real vision and energy to the role.’

Mark Evans commented that: ‘This is a wonderful time to be getting involved with netball and the VNSL. It is already a strong competition but I believe it can grow significantly in the next few years. Women’s sport in general and netball in particular are undergoing a transformation in this country and I look forward to both the opportunities and challenges this presents to the league.’
