The England Roses received a hero’s welcome as they arrived back in England this morning after making history Down Under and being crowned champions at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The UK-based players – Eboni Beckford-Chambers, Jade Clarke, Beth Cobden, Kadeen Corbin, Natalie Haythornthwaite and Jodie Gibson – were greeted by a crowd of cheering fans as they came through the doors at Heathrow.
With their medals on display, they were beaming from ear-to-ear despite being incredibly fatigued and having been travelling for over 30 hours.
Among those who had turned up to celebrate the team’s success were a group of children from a local London school.
They had made banners for the occasion and presented each of our Roses with a bunch of roses – much to the players’ surprise and delight!
The team then took the time to pose for photographs, sign autographs and talk to the children about winning gold and playing netball.
