Adelaide Thunderbirds have named Layla Guscoth in their squad of 12 for their Round Three clash with reigning premiers NSW Swifts.
The Vitality Rose missed the opening two rounds of the Super Netball season as she completed the final stages of her recovery from injury after rupturing her Achilles during the Vitality Netball World Cup 2019.
Guscoth played three games for Newton Jaguars Netball Club in the Netball SA Premier League over the past two weeks and has now joined her teammates on the Sunshine Coast.
Speaking to the Thunderbirds website about Guscoth and fellow returnee Sasha Glasgow, Head Coach Tania Obst said: “Both have shown tremendous resilience through their rehabilitation, working tirelessly for the opportunity to step back out on the SSN arena.
“I’m looking forward to seeing them back out on the court and I’m sure our fans and members are too.”
Thunderbirds beat GIANTS Netball for the first time in their history, winning by eight goals, in Round Two with Kate Shimmin named Player of the Match.
Guscoth, Shimmin and Chelsea Pitman now face international teammates Helen Housby and Natalie Haythornthwaite as Thunderbirds go up against the unbeaten NSW Swifts.
Before the season began, Super Netball released a mini documentary as part of their Our Stories series in which Layla talks about returning to England to work on the frontline, as well as her rehab and playing for Adelaide Thunderbirds.
