Vitality Rose Geva Mentor has signed a fresh deal with Collingwood Magpies that will see her remain in the black and white until 2021.

Mentor joined from Sunshine Coast Lightning at the end of the 2018 season and since joining Collingwood, she has been named in the starting seven for every game to date.

The England international has played 24 matches for the Pies since crossing over from Lightning and has played a total of 186 games.

Mentor has led the side for two consecutive seasons alongside Madi Browne, who earlier this week called time on her Super Netball career.

Collingwood co-captain Mentor was the club’s Best and Fairest winner in 2019 and played a complete season last year, tallying the second most deflections (86) and defensive rebounds (33) in the league.

With the Super Netball league’s Collective Player Agreement (CPA) finishing at the end of 2021, clubs are only able to sign players on one-year deals.

Collingwood’s GM of Women’s Sport, Jane Woodlands-Thompson, congratulated Mentor.

Speaking to the Collingwood Magpies website, Woodlands-Thompson said: “We are thrilled to have retained Geva for next year.

“Geva’s wealth of experience and leadership qualities have been crucial for this year’s new-look, younger squad.

“Since her arrival at the Holden Centre, Geva has proven to be a true asset for the club’s netball program. We look forward to seeing her in the black and white for another season.”

Mentor will come up against fellow Vitality Roses Chelsea Pitman, Layla Guscoth and Kate Shimmin this weekend (6th September) in Round 10 of Super Netball.
