'Roses Down Under' - Defeat for Southern Steel despite George Fisher's flawless shooting record

A blistering start by Northern Mystics saw George Fisher’s Southern Steel defeated 64-58 in round two of the ANZ Premiership on Saturday.

Fisher enjoyed an incredible debut last week as Steel overcame Mainland Tactix, but the Mystics started aggressively and the eight-goal lead they established in the opening quarter proved unassailable.

Despite the loss, Fisher’s individual performance caught the eye once more as she finished with 100% shooting accuracy from her 42 shots to consolidate her position as the most precise goaler in the league so far.

Steel will aim to bounce back at home next week when they take on 2020 champions Central Pulse on Sunday 2 May at 05:15 (BST).

Facing Fisher in the circle for part of the match was netball legend Ama Agbeze, who made her debut for the Mystics at goal-keeper.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist arrived for a few minutes in the third quarter before playing most of the final 15 minutes to help see her team over the line.

Agbeze’s next outing could come in Mystics’ match against Mainland Tactix on Monday 3 May at the more convenient time of 08:15 (BST) for British viewers.
