England netball players holding an England Flag

The England U17 squad successfully defended their title at the Europe Netball U17 Championship from 25-27 February in Newcastle.

England won the previous edition of the tournament in 2020, completing a clean sweep en route to the trophy, and once again maintained a 100 percent record throughout the 2022 competition.

The two England teams – U17 and Invitational – went head-to-head on the opening day with the U17 squad coming out on top with a 59-40 victory.

The U17s then ran out 28-85 winners against United Arab Emirates U17 on day two before they made it three from three on the final day of the competition with an 86-21 win against Scotland U17.

The England Invitational squad, which was made up of 12 Roses Academy athletes, also gained valuable experience on an international stage after missing out on opportunities due to the pandemic.

After their defeat to England U17, they secured back-to-back victories over the weekend, recording a 96-16 win against Scotland U17 followed by a 22-83 victory over United Arab Emirates U17.

Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches and support staff involved in a fantastic weekend of competition.
