This weekend, the Look Good Feel Better Charity Netball Tournament returns after a three-year hiatus.
Taking place at the University of Warwick Sports Hub on Sunday 26 March, 20 teams will be going head-to-head as they help to raise funds and awareness for cancer charity, Look Good Feel Better.
Since its inception in 2017, the tournament has raised £121,000, helping the charity to support over 2,500 people living with cancer.
Gail Chisolm, a talented netball player and cancer survivor, is one of the players taking part this weekend and spoke to us earlier this year about her involvement with the charity.
She said: “Look Good Feel Better has been such an amazing support for me and for so many others.
“As a stylist I now help to run the Look Good Feel Better ‘Styling for Confidence workshops’. We help people reconnect with their identity or come to terms with how they look at that particular time. I take great joy in it and not just from delivering the sessions but also supporting other women who are going through a similar experience to my own. And it’s really given me my confidence back as a stylist after my treatment.”
All funds raised across the weekend will help Look Good Feel Better continue to provide wellbeing workshops and advice for women, men and young adults undergoing cancer treatment.
The workshops are led by trained volunteers, like Gail, who help to put a smile back on the faces of people living with cancer, improve their confidence, self-esteem and feelings of isolation and anxiety during what can be a truly difficult and challenging time.
Future Rose and Leeds Rhinos player Millie Sanders will be in attendance and will be offering her expert tips and advice to the teams taking part.
The University College Birmingham are also lending a hand with students coming down to provide players with sports massages pre and post games whilst Sporting Touch, a local Warwickshire based kit provider, will be showcasing at the tournament. There will also be a heap of opportunities for spectators and players to win fantastic prizes and giveaways throughout the day.
