Introducing the new Puberty section on the NETBALLHer website

Today, we are proud to unveil a brand-new Puberty section tailor-made for netball players. We recognise the pivotal role that understanding puberty plays in the lives of young athletes. It’s a transformative phase that affects physical, social and emotional well-being, both on and beyond the netball court.

With this in mind, we have introduced a new Puberty section on the NETBALLHer website. Our mission? To equip everyone, from players and parents to coaches, officials, and volunteers, with expert advice on navigating all the wonderful changes and challenges that come with puberty.

By providing essential knowledge and support, we’re aiming to enhance experiences, reduce dropouts, and boost female participation in netball across various life stages.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the incredible content you’ll find in our new Puberty section:

  1. Puberty 101: We’ll delve into the physical, emotional and social changes that occur during puberty, offering insights to help young athletes and their support systems navigate this journey.
  2. Teenage girls, their bodies and food: For young athletes and their wider support systems, this article discusses the importance of delivering positive messages about food and nutrition to teenage girls and the potential negative impact of social media.
  3. The period conversation: As young as eight, the female body gives cues so that parents / carers can prep the period chat. This article covers what to know and how to approach.

NETBALLHer’s commitment to female health education also extends beyond puberty. Other topics already available through our industry-leading education programme are Pelvic Health, Menopause, Nutrition, and Bras and Kit, and Injury, with more to follow over the coming months.
