2023-24 Premier League Award Winners Announced

Paige McCalla (New Cambell), Jane Taylor (Hucclecote) and Livvy Patten (BSV Billericay) have been named Premier League Players of the Season, while Norfolk United have been crowned Club of the Season for 2023-24.

After an action-packed regular season, Academy (PL1), Hucclecote (PL2) and Team Bath Toucans (PL3) came out on top in their respective divisions with more games than ever before having been shown via leading live video streaming platform Joymo.

Over 475 athletes took to courts across the county to represent their teams in the highest level of club netball underneath the Netball Super League with the three Player of the Season winners chosen based on each league game’s Player of the Match Awards.

At the end of each game, both teams picked a Player of the Match from the opposition team. The winning team’s Player of the Match was awarded three points, and the losing team’s player received two points.

These scores were then tallied up across the season to determine the players with the most points in each league and trophy winners.

After finishing second in the voting in the 2021-22 season, New Cambell’s McCalla has picked up the top award in Premier League 1 for the second year in a row, having won Player of the Match on eight occasions.

In Premier League 2, the honour has gone to Hucclecote’s Taylor. The homegrown talent, who has played for the club as a junior all the way through to senior level, scooped seven Player of the Match awards throughout the season as she helped Hucclecote bounce straight back into the top flight after relegation in 2022-23.

BSV Billericay’s Patten won 10 Player of the Match awards over the season – the most of any player across all three divisions – as she played a key role in helping her side improve on last campaign’s seventh-place finish by moving up to fifth and has claimed the Premier League 3 Player of the Season title.

Meanwhile, Norfolk United have been voted Club of the Season after Linden scooped the inaugural accolade in 2022-23.

The award recognises and celebrates the club for their off-court standards, including providing a high-quality home match experience for visiting teams and demonstrating good sportsmanship.

After winning promotion from Premier League 3 in 2022-23, Norfolk United recorded seven wins in Premier League 2 and a sixth-place finish.

Congratulations to Paige, Jane and Livvy, as well as everyone associated with Norfolk United, and thank you to all the teams for another fantastic season of competition! You can read more about how the final round unfolded here.
