NETBALLHer One Year On: Jill's Menopause Experience

Menopause is inevitable for all females, it’s a time when many struggle to stay playing, coaching or officiating netball.

Netball can help women to navigate their symptoms, be healthy and strong – when done in the right way.

NETBALLHer was launched in April 2023 as an initiative to better educate and support women and girls at all levels of sport about their female health across the different life stages.

Over the past 12 months, NETBALLHer has helped to normalise conversations on topics about the female body and created an important cultural shift within the Netball Family.

Jill Hogan has been involved in netball from primary school age as a player right through to her 40s, where she played up to regional level.

She then decided to make the move into coaching and is a Level 3 coach, but now spends most of her time tutoring and assessing, which she’s been doing for about 15 years.

Listen to her experience of what impact menopause has had on her, how she’d like to see conversations opened up even further and how others can benefit from the free resources on the NETBALLHer website

Building on the foundations that the NETBALLHer website has created, the NETBALLHer Learning Offer, created in partnership with The Well HQ, is a free online learning opportunity designed to exclusively empower our over 18 and secondary school group members with a comprehensive understanding of female health in netball.

It aims to take eligible members’ learning around female health one step further, teaching them how to practically enhance their own netball experiences during key life stages, as well as those of other women and girls.
