After banking some quality technical and strength sessions at the Australian Institute of Sport, as well as enjoying a three-day spell preparing at Sydney Olympic Park Netball Centre, the young Roses are up and running in their behind-closed-doors tour fixtures.
The full tour consists of England U21 playing six matches in total against Australia U21 Gold, Australia U21 Green and New Zealand U21 between 17 and 23 January.
As agreed by all teams competing in the tournament, the results of these games will not be shared publicly, but you can still keep up to date with the team’s journey in Australia.
Across the opening three matches, all the squad have taken to court, testing new combinations and gaining experience against different tactics and styles of play.
Tami Fapohunda (co-captain) and Knightbridge reflected on the fixtures so far: “In the U21 series so far, we’ve faced two Australian teams and one from New Zealand.
“These practice matches have offered invaluable experience and we’re all looking forward to the upcoming competition.
“The team has built strong trust and mental resilience throughout the three games.
“We’ve gained important insights into what we call the three Cs: consistency, communication and connections, which will be crucial as we continue to grow as a team.”
Make sure to check the England Netball website again on Thursday 23 January at the end of the tour where you’ll find another round-up article featuring some reflections from the team.
