Aliyah Zaranyika has been selected for the England Roses Academy programme for the remainder of the 2019/20 season.
Zaranyika’s potential was recognised by selectors after she successfully trialled at a camp in December 2019.
The teenager currently represents Vitality Netball Superleague franchise Saracens Mavericks and has trained with the first-team and U21 squads.
Zaranyika started for Mavericks at The Big Showdown pre-season tournament hosted by Team Bath last month.
She also plays for Cumberland Netball Club in Premier League 1 and was recently tipped as a key player for the London outfit by head coach Polini Langi.
Zaranyika can play at either goal defence or wing defence and was invited to trial for the Roses Academy squad in Loughborough.
Zaranyika subsequently impressed Roses Academy Head Coach Sheonah Forbes and will now join the athletes selected into the programme back in August.
Forbes commented: “It’s great to be able to welcome Aliyah to the squad after she demonstrated great ability in the training environment last month.
“We’d like to offer Aliyah our congratulations and we are sure she will make a great addition to the squad.”
