Back in May 2020, we launched our exciting new initiative ‘Any Dream We’ll Do’ to try and bring a little bit of happiness and hope to the Netball Family during lockdown.
All you needed to do was nominate a fellow member or group of members, tell us why they would be a worthy winner and most importantly, what you think their netball dream would be.
Our Dream Makers panel received so many entries and have started to work their magic behind the scenes with a number of very special surprises!
Sophia Mifsud was nominated for ‘Any Dream We’ll Do’ by her mum, Amy Mifsud and speaking about Sophia, Amy said: “My daughter Sophia is usually a busy girl, always on the go with her social and sports life – swimming, cubs, athletics, and netball. To suddenly have this time in her life paused overnight due to COVID-19 has been a massive change.
“She is the daughter of two key workers who between us work 12.5 hr days, seven days a week – a postman and an A&E nurse. Sophia has to go to school for 7.30am two-three days a week while the rest of her friends stay safe home with their families. The other days she has to put up with the worst teacher in the world (aka me!), all the while keeping her love and passion for netball alive in her mini netball court (aka our garden!).
“Sophia has not once complained about the situation we find ourselves in, she laughs every day, she is a little superstar trying so hard at everything she does and she keeps us going for sure!
“I would like to nominate Sophia because she has shown such positivity, courage, determination, dedication, with every challenge, piece of school work, and sporting effort that she has undertaken during this time. She has shown a great deal of kindness and love to her family and friends (via appropriate means of contact of course) and she truly deserves something special for being so amazing.”
Here’s what happened when Sophia was surprised by a certain Vitality Rose…
