The Vitality Goalden Globe Awards are an annual celebration of our netball volunteers who have delivered outstanding contributions to netball across the country.
Whilst usually an evening of glitz and glamour, things are a little different this year as a result of COVID-19.
Determined not to let that stop us, the Goalden Globe Awards will instead be a virtual awards ceremony that will take place on Thursday 10 December, following the postponement of the national event from earlier this year.
The awards will start at 19.45 with the ceremony lasting approximately 75 minutes. We will be joined by some special guests on the night as we present the prestigious awards and look back on the inspirational efforts and achievements of our volunteer family over the last year.
Being a virtual event means that the awards ceremony is open to all and will take place on the England Netball YouTube account, with a link to access the awards being circulated in advance of the night.
The following awards will be announced on the night, with nominees being put forward from their regions:
- Young netball volunteer award
- Outstanding netball club award
- Mary Bulloch administrator award
- Muriel McNally award
- Grassroots coach of the year
- Sheelagh Redpath grassroots officials award
- Netball teacher award
- Unsung hero award
Additional national recognised awards include:
- Pass on your passion volunteers completing 400 hours
- National long service award
- Inclusion and diversity award
- Rose award
With things being a bit different this year and the Goalden Globe award nominations closing ahead of the nation going into lockdown, it felt appropriate to introduce a different award to recognise the significant proportion of this year that has meant netball activity as we know has been paused or delivered in more virtual ways.
The #RiseAgain Champion award will recognise an individual or group of individuals that have delivered an innovative experience or approach to enable members of the Netball Family to overcome adversity during these challenging times. Please note that nominees must be a member of England Netball and nominations close at midnight on Sunday 15 November 2020.
We will also award Honorary Life memberships for individuals who have given exceptional service to England Netball as well as announcing any new inductees into the England Netball Hall of Fame on the night.
We very much hope you will be able to join us on the night as we recognise and celebrate the efforts and achievements of our volunteers.
