Bella Baylis of Roses Academy and Saracens Mavericks.

Bella Baylis has been named in Saracens Mavericks’ 2021 Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) squad.

The 2019/20 Roses Academy athlete is the latest player announced as part of Kat Ratnapala’s side and plays either centre or wing attack.

The midcourter has been progressing through the Saracens Mavericks pathway and has now made the step up to the senior side.

“I’m so grateful to get this opportunity,” she said on Twitter. “I can’t wait to get started!”

Focussed, determined and talented, Baylis won the Coaches’ Player of the Season Award at U19 level at Saracens Mavericks’ awards night in May 2019.

Speaking in the most recent edition of 5th QTR, England Netball’s exclusive member magazine, she shared that her ultimate goal is to represent the Vitality Roses on the international stage.

And the 16-year-old has been on the England radar since first making the Satellite Academy squad at the age of 12.

She quickly progressed to the regional squad, where she found herself playing alongside players four years her senior.

She was only introduced to the Roses Academy in 2018 but in that time has already gained on-court experience for her country.

The 1.65m midcourter was not only selected for England’s 12-strong Netball Europe U17 Championship squad in March 2020 but was named vice captain of the side.

Baylis started all four games as the Young Roses completed a clean sweep of wins to retain their crown and once again lift the trophy.

This news comes after the announcements that Commonwealth Games champions Kadeen Corbin and Jodie Gibson, as well as Vitality Roses Gabby Marshall and Razia Quashie will also be playing for Saracens Mavericks in 2021.
