Blue Coat claimed the U19 2021/22 National Schools Finals title, closing a weekend of outstanding netball at Oundle School.
Day one of the National Schools Finals saw the U14 and U16 titles decided and today it was the turn of the U19s, with the best 18 teams from the Regional Schools Finals in action.
U19
Section E was dominated by Blue Coat from the North West who won eight out of eight, sailing through as group winners. Millfield School from the South West, who finished fourth in 2018/19, finished just behind in second, losing just one of their games.
In the other section, four teams were battling out it for the top two. Wrekin College took first place, coming out on top with 34 points whilst the final spot came down to the last game where Guildford High School from London & the South East edged past Woodhouse Grove School from Yorkshire & Humberside and St Albans High School for Girls from the East.
Into the semi finals and it was the Section E sides Blue Coat and Millfield who prevailed with convincing wins in their respective fixtures.
The final was tightly contested with Blue Coat and Millfield level at the break. But with just a couple of minutes to go, Blue Coat broke away and clinched victory with an 11-8 win. Meanwhile in the third place play off, little could separate the two sides as the game went into extra time but in the end, it was Wrekin College who took home the bronze medal.
