It may be January 1st but we know netball coaching doesn’t sleep. Here is a brand new Fresh Idea Friday to start the New Year with a bang courtesy of Performance Development Coach, Kelly Washington. Introducing…Bomb Ball.
- I put an exercise ball in the middle of the centre circle.
- 2 teams stand opposite each other in the goals thirds, up to the centre third lines.
- They are not allowed to cross over into the centre third.
- Each team has 3 or 4 netballs.
- The aim of the game is to hit the exercise ball with their netballs (via accurate passing) to try and move the ball across the line where the opposition stand.
- If they succeed in moving the ball across the oppositions line, this = a goal.
- At the same time, the opposing team have the same goal, they also need to think about stopping the travelling exercise ball from crossing over their line.
- You can play this game using a time limit and reset the exercise ball each time a goal is scored, or first to 5 points.
Thank you Kelly! Have fun coaches – let us know if you play the game and any progressions / adaptations you make @ENCoaching_ .
