Hi Netball Coaching Family,
2016 is here and we’re excited. This time last year, our department was just a twinkle in England Netball’s eye. We have big plans for 2016 and hope that we will continue to provide a bit of inspiration to all Netball Coaches across England.
Here’s a few bits to whet your appetite…
- **BRAND NEW PODCAST MINI_SERIES ALERT**
To kick off 2016 with a bang, today we are launching the first episode of our three part winter podcast mini-series. Episode 4 looks at planning brilliant sessions with a lovely example on taking ball to circle edge and is live on Soundcloud now.
Watch out for episodes 5 and 6 over the next few weeks.
2. Make the Game Live is going on the road….
In September, we ran our National Coaching Conference, Make the Game Live, in Warwick. We felt that some of the content was just too important not to share further so have set up six, three hour workshops to help you…
- Understand how the game is changing and what that means for your coaching.
- Get updates on the key messages from our national coaching experience.
- Embed game based practice into your coaching and help you to design practices that maximise player decision making.
3. A little light reading…
If you’re still keen for even more coaching inspiration, here are the titles of some sports and netball coaching books we love;
The Sports Gene: Inside the Science of Extraordinary Athletic Performance by David Epstein
Bounce by Matthew Syed
The Gold Mine Effect by Rasmus Ankersen
Mindset by Carol Dweck
Legacy by James Kerr
And some Netters ones…
Netball Practices and Training, A Practical Guide for Players and Coaches by Anita Navin
Netball: Skills, Techniques, Tactics by Anita Navin
And finally, a bit of a spoiler… a brand new Netball Coaching book is being launched in February especially for coaches working with children and teens, aptly named Coaching Youth Netball. We’ll be sharing an excerpt and have copies to give away!
2016, we’re coming to get you! Have the best year.
