England Netball would like to wish both Louise Travis and Kate Stephenson the best of luck as they depart for the World Youth Netball Cup (WYNC) in Gaborone in Botswana.
Joining the Umpiring pair will be Margaret Deighan attending in the role of Umpire Appointments Panel (UAP) member. The World Youth Netball Cup sees under 21 teams from all of the major Netballing nations battle it out for the title over two weeks of competition.
Gary Burgess, England Netball Officiating Manager passed on his best wishes to the international pair. “I wish both Louise and Kate the best of luck for this tournament. They have both had a fantastic Superleague season which will have served as great preparation for this challenge and they both possess the required skills to do an excellent job”.
Speaking of Deighan’s appointment as UAP, Burgess said: “Margaret is extremely well regarded in the World both from her umpiring career (having umpired the final of the 1996 WYNC) and now as an International Assessor.
“Focus is often directed to the physical challenges of umpiring but with the prospect of being required to assess up to 5 matches a day Margaret will be under similar levels of pressure. The level of concentration required will be extremely demanding”.
The World Youth Netball Cup runs from 8th to the 16th July at the University of Botswana Indoor Sports Arena.
