England Netball and the Netball Super League (NSL) have today announced a new partnership with online healthcare service Superdrug Online Doctor.
The partnership which begins immediately, is a major six figure investment into the sport and will see Superdrug Online Doctor become Official Partner of both England Netball and the Netball Super League (NSL).
Launched in 2013, Superdrug Online Doctor is an online healthcare service where patients can request medication from a doctor and get it delivered discreetly to their door or collect from a Superdrug Pharmacy for free. With over 75 health conditions covered, patients can benefit from treatments for a wide variety of health conditions alongside large range of female health resources and healthcare services.
The partnership will complement England Netball’s industry-leading NETBALLHer initiative which supports women and girls at all levels of sport about female health across the different life stages.
As part of the partnership, Superdrug Online Doctor will have a visible presence at both England Netball and NSL major events, beginning with the Vitality Netball Nations Cup on 1 and 2 February in Nottingham and on 8 and 9 February in London, as well as at the NSL’s Netball Super Cup on 8 March. Driving awareness of the Superdrug Online Doctor service, netball fans watching in the arenas or live on Sky Sports will see the brand’s presence on court, in the venues and on the Vitality Roses’ dresses.
Mark Foster, Chief Commercial Officer at England Netball said: “It’s such an exciting time for netball with the imminent relaunch of the NSL which is generating significant interest in the sport. We are delighted to announce this major new partnership with Superdrug Online Doctor that is testament to the growing commercial power of the sport and reflects the unique position that netball, a sport made by women for women, holds with our audience.
“We are delighted to work with partners that not only recognise the value and potential of investing in netball, but who also share our vision for creating meaningful change for women and girls. This arrangement aligns perfectly with our commitment both to make netball a sport where women and girls at different life stages are able to thrive, and to continue to innovate and push boundaries as we elevate and drive our sport forwards to a new place of prominence.”
Chloe Anderson, Head of Healthcare Services at Superdrug comments: “We are thrilled to announce Superdrug Online Doctor’s new partnership with England Netball and the Netball Super League. This sponsorship not only reflects our commitment to promoting health and well-being, but also aligns with our values of supporting active communities and empowering individuals to achieve their full potential. We are looking forward to working together to inspire a healthier, more active future.”
As the NSL prepares to relaunch in March ahead of a decade-long journey to professionalisation, Superdrug Online Doctor will be featured on court branding at all NSL matches. Exclusive ticket offers will also be available for Superdrug members at selected England Netball and NSL major events as part of the sport’s journey to drive fandom and visibility for the sport.
Demonstrating Superdrug Online Doctor’s commitment to promoting active lifestyles for women, the investment will also fund community netball sessions in support of England Netball’s flagship participation programme, Back to Netball. This programme offers women at all life stages the opportunity to get active and re-engage with the sport and since it was launched in 2009, has engaged over 65,000 women.
The partnership between Superdrug Online Doctor, England Netball, and the Netball Super League was facilitated by Women’s Sports Media, a specialist agency dedicated exclusively to driving partnerships in women’s sports.
Craig Williams, Co-Founder of Women’s Sports Media, commented: “We’re thrilled to see Superdrug Online Doctor make its debut in women’s sports sponsorship by supporting netball, the most played team sport among women in the UK. This partnership couldn’t come at a better time as the Netball Super League continues its push towards professionalisation. By championing netball, Superdrug Online Doctor not only reinforces its commitment to women’s health but also plays a key role in supporting players of the sport at every level, from grassroots programmes to the elite stage. This is a purpose-driven partnership that will leave a lasting impact on the netball community, and we’re proud to have played a part in bringing it to life.”
