England Netball to team up with Cancer Support Charity to host major sporting event and fundraiser

Cancer support charity Look Good Feel Better will join forces with England Netball in September to host a sports tournament with a difference.

Taking place on Saturday 17 September, the event offers a fantastic and unique opportunity for both experienced and amateur netball players to come together and participate in an action-packed day, while raising much-needed funds to help support people living with cancer.

The event, now in its fourth year, will be hosted in its new home at Warwick University, which offers top-class sporting facilities and the chance for participants to play at a prestigious Commonwealth Games venue.

On the day, 30 teams from across the UK will benefit from professional coaching and umpiring from England Netball as well as the opportunity to meet and learn tips and tricks from elite athletes from the netball world – providing a fun, friendly and supportive environment for all abilities. On top of this, players will each receive a generous goodie bag and the chance to take home fantastic winners prizes.

To date, the tournament has raised over £121,000 since its inception in 2017 which has enabled the charity to provide its support for over 2,500 people living with cancer.

All monies raised during the weekend will help Look Good Feel Better continue to provide wellbeing workshops and advice for women, men and young adults undergoing cancer treatment. The workshops are led by trained volunteers in the health and beauty industry who help to put a smile back on the faces of people living with cancer, improve their confidence, self-esteem and feelings of isolation and anxiety during what can be a truly difficult and challenging time.

Ian Daniels, Director of Fundraising at Look Good Feel Better, says: “After an enforced 2-year hiatus, we are thrilled that our popular charity netball tournament is back and in a fantastic new home!

“Together with England Netball and Warwick University, we have been working hard to ensure this year’s tournament is the best yet. As well as raising vital funds for people living with cancer, we want to ensure all participating players and spectators have the best experience and that is a day to remember.”

Fran Connolly, England Netball CEO, added: “We are delighted to see this event return to court, and are proud to partner with Look Good Feel Better to continue such important work in both supporting and raising funds for those living with cancer.

“Bringing communities together through netball to help positively impact lives on and beyond the court is very powerful, and I am sure the event will be a great experience for all involved.”
