England Roses Academy head coaches appointed for 2018/19 season

Victoria Burgess and Sheonah Forbes have been appointed as Roses Academy head coaches for the 2018/19 season.

Victoria will take up the role of U17s Head Coach, while Sheonah Forbes will lead the U19s.

Both coaches will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the Roses Academy programme for their respective age groups, player development and coaching at international competitions, as well as on tour.

Victoria has extensive experience of coaching across a range of levels and is passionate about positively influencing athletes’ development.

She joins after working within a high-performance environment for six years as a Pathway Coach based in the North East.

Discussing her new role in the England Netball set-up, Victoria said: “I am very excited to be appointed as the U17 Roses Academy Head Coach.

“It is something I have been working towards for a number of years and I can’t wait to work with such talented athletes and use my knowledge and experience to support their development through the Roses programme.”

Having been in the performance environment for over eight years, Sheonah brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role as U19s Head Coach.

She has previously worked as a Performance Analyst for a number of elite teams, including GB Cycling and Loughborough Lightning, and was Franchise Pathway Coach at Manchester Thunder for the 2017/18 season.

On her appointment, Sheonah said: “I am really excited to work with this generation of athletes in the Roses environment.

“I can’t wait to get started and see them develop throughout the year!”

Jan Crabtree, Pathway Head Coach, will support Victoria and Sheonah in the overall delivery of the Roses Academy programme.

Speaking about both appointments, she said: “Congratulations to both Victoria and Sheonah on their appointments as England U17 and U19 head coaches.

“These are exciting times for England Netball as we look to develop our coaching pathway and I am confident they will make their own mark within the Academy.”
