Peace Proscovia of the Lightning and Stacey Francis of the Fever challenge for the ball during the Super Netball Preliminary Final match between the Sunshine Coast Lightning and the West Coast Fever

Stacey Francis’ West Coast Fever are heading into their second Super Netball Grand Final after beating the Sunshine Coast Lighting 73-59 in the Preliminary Final.

The Vitality Rose and her defensive teammates put on one of their best performances of the season as they shut down Lightning’s attempts of scoring.

Francis silenced the Sunshine Coast fans in the first quarter with an incredible intercept and from there Fever ran away with the quarter, taking a 21-12 lead into the first break. The West Coast Fever restricted the home side to a combined nine scoring attempts in the first quarter.

With a nine-goal lead going into the second quarter the West Coast Fever were unstoppable, taking complete control of the game. They developed a 16-goal lead by the half time break with the score at 23-39 and from there they never looked back.

Stacey Francis and her West Coast team will now face Melbourne Vixens in the 2020 Grand Final on Sunday 18 October at 2:00am (GMT).
