England Netball

The first-ever tri-counties Walking Netball festival in the South West took place on Sunday 20th May.

The event was held at Bentham Country Club in Gloucestershire and 16 teams from counties in the north of the region entered.

Each squad featured up to 10 ladies and every team played a total of six games throughout the festival.

The standard of play was incredibly high and even those non-competitive teams began to inquire after the score after their games!

It was a very warm day and all of the ladies really enjoyed themselves.

They were also very generous with regards to the raffle held in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The overall winners were Gloucestershire-based Bentham Walking Netball, who were undefeated throughout the festival.

A huge thank you to the umpires for their support on the day – as ever, the event would not have been possible without them.

Walking Netball is a slower version of the game; it is netball, but at a walking pace. The game has been designed so that anyone can play it regardless of age or fitness level. From those who have dropped out of the sport they love due to serious injury, to those who believed they had hung up their netball trainers many years ago, it really is for everyone. Women the length of the country have begun playing the game of Walking Netball for the fun, laughter and camaraderie the social session brings, as much as the health benefits on offer.
