Our fabulous former Roses captain Pamela Cookey has today announced the teams for her testimonial match that will take place on Saturday 17 December.
A host of stars, including BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Caroline Barker, Olympic 400m medallist Katharine Merry, current England netball players Jo Harten, Sarah Bayman and Serena Guthrie will come together to celebrate the career of the two-time Commonwealth bronze medallist and seven-time Superleague winner.
Former England mid-courter Tamsin Greenway will be dusting off her trainers to compete in the match having announced her retirement from netball last year. Clare Elsey, World Indoor Champion 2016, will be taking to the court and new Severn Stars recruit, Laura Malcolm, will also be making an appearance.
Vitality Netball Superleague team, the Severn Stars, jointly run by the University of Gloucestershire and University of Worcester, where Pamela is now the Director of Netball, will be hosting the match at the University of Worcester Arena on Saturday 17 December (3pm start).
Match tickets cost £15 or VIP tickets can be purchased for £30 – which includes match tickets, post-match function, food, live music and Q&A with the players. Tickets can be bought online from Ticketline.
The match will also be raising money for Cancer Research and domestic violence charity Refuge, with 50 percent of profits going to these charities.
Pamela said: “I’m very excited to mark the end of my playing career amongst friends, family and netball fans!
“England Netball, Team Bath and Surrey Storm have been a big part of my journey and I now look forward to my off-court role with the Severn Stars. This is a chance for me to thank them all.
“This event is set to be jam-packed with stars from the sporting world and media strutting their stuff. I can’t wait to see you there too to celebrate with me!”
England international mid-courter Sara Bayman, who has recently signed for Central Pulse in New Zealand, said: “I can’t wait to play in this game to celebrate Pam’s incredible career. Such a fun and memorable night seems like the perfect way to salute one of the greatest players in English netball history.”
Former World number one 400m runner Katharine Merry, said: “So excited to take to the court with a legend. Honestly, it is an honour to play in Pamela’s testimonial. It will be great fun for important causes. Luckily it’s not about fitness and Superleague tekkers!”
Tickets for the fixture can be purchased online from Ticketline.
