As the Vitality Roses celebrated a 2-1 series win over Jamaica, the next generation of England stars also gained invaluable experience as part of the Vitality Netball International Series last weekend.
The Future Roses, led by Sheonah Forbes, played back-to-back curtain raiser matches against the England Thorns at the Copper Box Arena.
While the Thorns, who were playing as part of a Vitality Roses series for the first time, came out on top in both matches (41-75 and 42-64), it was a welcomed and exciting test for the young Roses to build new combinations on court.
All 12 of Forbes’ squad featured across the two matches, including BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year nominee Jayda Pechova.

Reflecting on the fixtures, Forbes said: “Leading the Futures squad against the Thorns was a privilege and an opportunity to showcase the Roses of the future.
“After previously missing out on international competition, such as the postponed Netball World Youth Cup, it was imperative to give each member exposure to continue to grow their understanding and experience on a world stage.
“The Thorns pose a different style and through both games, we were able to implement and capitalise on a number of strategies and strengths within this squad in front of a fantastic Copper Box Arena crowd.
“I look forward to now seeing everyone progress and shine in their respective Netball Super League clubs this season.”
