2019/20 Roses Academy athletes Hannah Howl and Chloe Carchrie have been named in Severn Stars’ Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) squad for 2021.
Both Howl, who plays goal keeper or goal defence, and Carchrie, who is a centre or wing attack, were included in Head Coach Melissa Bessell’s inaugural team as training partners after she took the helm in July 2019.
Carchrie has been with Severn Stars for a number of years, playing at the NPL Tournament for their U17 side in 2017 and 2018.
She then went on to represent the U19 side in 2019, being voted U19 Player of the Season at the club’s presentation evening that year.
Howl has also been developing through Severn Stars’ pathway, playing at the NPL Tournament at U17 level and then coming away with a gold medal at the 2018 School Games.
Discussing her squad and the 2021 season on Sky Sports, Bessell said: “Everyone will look at this squad and say that it’s the same, and that’s because it is. I am really pleased to be able to have kept this squad together again.
“I think that it’s really important to have continuity. We formed and built such a great culture as we came together as a new group last year.
“This year is going to be very different to others. There’s so much more riding on us as franchises and as coaches. We need to show that we can do it and that we can get the sport back safely at the highest level.
“We’re all so excited to get back together and look ahead to the 2021 season as a group. We’ve been there for each other during this difficult period and to reunite on court, will be something special.”
