Vitality Rose and Commonwealth Games winner Jo Harten is returning to Loughborough Lightning for this year’s annual British Fast5 All-Stars Championship.
Harten ususally represents GIANTS Netball in Suncorp Super Netball but joins Lightning as their All-Star pick for the competition, which takes place on Saturday 12th October 2019.
The 30-year-old will represent Lightning for the first time in eight years after leaving the franchise when she graduated from university in 2012.
In her previous four-year spell with the Midlands outfit, the goal shooter progressed to become on of the club’s youngest captains before making her international debut at the age of 18.
Harten has since gone onto to enjoy a prosperous career in international and club netball, developing into one of the most feared players in the world.
She recently earned her landmark 100th Vitality Roses during this summer’s Vitality Netball World Cup in Liverpool, where she secured a bronze medal.
“I’m very excited to be re-joining Lightning for this year’s British Fast 5 All-Stars. Loughborough is my second home for netball and I can’t wait to pull on the Lightning dress again and line up some long shots,” said Harten.
After her move away from Lightning, Harten moved to New Zealand with Canterbury Tactix and latterly Waikato Magic before signing for GIANTS Netball.
Loughborough Lightning Head Coach Sara Bayman said: “It’s a massive boost to have Jo [Harten] as part of our Fast5 squad. She is a world-class shooter and is always exciting to watch with the flair that she brings to the game.
“As a Loughborough alumna, she is someone we are very proud of and is a role model for current and future Lightning players.”
