High 5 in the Community

High 5 is the recommended 5-a-side version of the 7 a-side game. It gives every child the chance to experience and enjoy every position, as well as off-court roles. It boosts fitness and adaptability and provides a great social framework for players to strengthen friendships. Kids tell us they love playing it.

To set High 5 up in your school download a copy of the High 5 Rules’ Book (simple and easy to understand). You’ll also find all of the other resources you’ll need here to download on the Resources and Downloads page.

School & Club Links

If you’re an accredited CAPS Club you will already have a School and Club link but have you considered linking with a primary school? If you’re a club working towards your CAPs accreditation, why not make your school/club link with a primary school?

Primary school age is a great time to engage more young people in netball and 44% of 5-10 year olds say netball is their top sport. Linking with a primary school can bring more young people into your club and High 5 is the ideal fun game to introduce them to netball.

Contact your County Netball Development Officer, who will then put you in touch with the right people in the local primary schools.  A School and club link can be very simple and may just be your club giving the schools posters to advertise your club or flyers to give out to the children. You may be able to send a coach into the school to run some after school High 5 taster sessions, or help the school run a High 5 festival, having agreed with the school what you are going to do.

Whatever activities you choose a school/club link will benefit your club and could supply you with new, young club members on an annual basis.

What could be involved in a School and Club Link?

It is important that the School and Club have clear points of contact and with the support of the Netball Development Officer, this can become a very successful partnership. Here’s a few ideas of how a School/Club Link can function and yield the most success……

  • Both are delivering High 5
  • Support to provide coaches to deliver sessions
  • Ensure all coaches are appropriately qualified and have a CRB
  • Organisation of High 5 Festival collectively
  • Posters and Flyers provided to promote session
