England Netball launches new Coaching and Officiating Strategies

With participation rates rapidly growing across our Netball Family and performance on the international stage continuing to exceed expectations, the growth and development of our infrastructure of Coaches and Officials has never been more important to the sport.

Following extensive research and consultation across the netball and sporting landscape England Netball is delighted to share with you our new Coaching and Officiating strategies that set the direction of travel in these areas over the coming years.

England Netball’s Head of Coaching, Sian Foley-Corah, said: “The launch of the Coaching Strategy for England Netball is an important and exciting milestone for the sport in a period where we continue to grow the amount of netballers playing regularly across many environments every week.

“With three out of four netballers receiving coaching every week and 73% of netballers saying coaching makes their experience ‘a lot better’, we know that coaches are a critical part of the netball experience and this strategy outlines our vision of creating ‘First Class Netball Experiences through Great Coaching’.

“I am really proud of where we want to take coaching in netball over the next three years and I look forward to seeing its transformation as we attract new coaches and support our current coaches to be the best they can be.”

England Netball’s Head of Officiating, Gary Burgess, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with our ‘Team White’ family in the creation of this Officiating Strategy and I can’t wait to get to work with our network of counties, regions and wider sporting partners to make the vision become a reality.

“The core objectives are Growth, Support and Transparency with these underpinned by the need for us to revolutionise the way we work across the officiating network, this includes the activation of new systems and processes at a national level that will ensure we can continue to grow and develop all members of Team White and attract new ones to meet the demand created by our fantastic Commonwealth Games gold medal win.”
