Local school first to catch a glimpse of Wasps Netball!

Pupils from Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School were the first to catch a glimpse of Wasps Netball’s new Superleague team training together.

Players from the school’s year 8 netball team were invited along to watch Director of Netball Tamsin Greenway put her new signings through their paces at the University of Warwick’s sports centre.

Wasps netballers took part in a four-a-side game and showcasede their skills through a number ofdrills in between talking to their young visitors.

Charlotte Chinn, PE teacher at Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School, said: “Netball is the biggest extra-curricular sport in our school where we have over 100 competitive players, so we were delighted to get the opportunity to see some of the best netball players in the country in action.

“The girls had a fantastic time talking to the Wasps players and watching how they play, and have picked up a few playing tips that they can take into their own games against other schools. Some of them are also popping along to watch England play Jamaica at the Ricoh Arena in December.”

Wasps Director of Netball Tamsin Greenway added: “You could see the excitement in the girls’ eyes when we met them, which is great to see. Netball is growing in popularity, and we’re keen to nurture that as much as we can over the coming months.

“Hopefully this training visit and this weekend’s activities in the fan village will spur girls on to seriously think about taking up netball professionally in the future.”

The general public will also get to meet the full Wasps Netball squad in the Wasps Nest Fan Village for the first time ahead of Wasps’ Aviva Premiership clash with Newcastle Falcons on Sunday, October 30 (kick-off 2.30pm).

From midday, fans can watch and get involved with a number of drills with the Wasps Netball squad, and experience elite netball first-hand. There will also be the opportunity to chat to the players who’ll be available for photos and autographs throughout the day.

During the Big Netball Day, fans will have an exclusive window to be the first to secure Wasps Netball Season Membership from the Ticket Office for the upcoming 2017 Vitality Netball Superleague season, before they go on general sale from Monday 31st October.
