Manchester Thunder have been crowned 2018 U21 NPL champions after an impressive unbeaten campaign.

Thunder started their season with a 58-46 win over Team Northumbria on the opening weekend in January at the EIS Sheffield and never looked back.

An amazing season of closely fought competition culminated in seven fantastic final games this weekend as the U21 NPL took over at Derby Arena for a day of thrilling netball on Saturday.

Some of the most exciting young netballers in the country took to court with Manchester Thunder sealing the title with two convincing wins against Loughborough Lightning (74-35) and Severn Stars (73-40).

It was extremely close for second place with Wasps Netball pipping Team Bath to the silver medal on goal average.

Wasps recorded final round wins against Mavericks (77-48) and Surrey Storm (78-45) and finished with a goal average of 1.50.

Team Bath also won their two remaining matches – 67-31 vs Severn Stars and 71-35 vs Team Northumbria – but finished with a goal average of 1.33.

After a fantastic season of play, England Netball would like to thank all players, coaches, officials and volunteers for their hard work.

Congratulations to all teams involved, especially to Manchester Thunder on their unbeaten season and winning the NPL U21 title.
