England Netball launches new user-focused website

With the Vitality Netball Nations Cup well underway, England Netball has today unveiled its new website which will make following or taking part in netball easier than ever.

The website, which has been developed by award winning digital agency Sotic, allows people to follow all of the latest news and action in the world of netball and easily find a way to participate off the court too.

The governing body and Sotic undertook extensive user research in order to create a platform that serves a wide range of stakeholders including players of all ages and abilities, parents, coaches, umpires, volunteers and of course fans.

The new site has been built mobile-first to ensure users can access it anywhere, at any time and with accessibility at the heart of it more users than ever will be able to use the platform. In addition, the new site provides more commercial opportunities for current and potential sponsors of England Netball.

Fran Connolly, England Netball CEO, said: “When we started this project we set out some clear objectives. We wanted to inspire more individuals to play netball, attract new people into our world and drive commercial revenue through the site. We feel our new site ticks all those boxes.

“Our team has put a huge amount of effort into developing it and I am delighted with the outcome. We know that our previous website was outdated, inaccessible for some and had a confusing user experience so for this new platform we’ve really stripped it back. It’s simple to use and has an enhanced look and feel which we think will work much better for the Netball Family.

“Now all current and future generations of netball players, fans, facilitators, umpires, volunteers and others will be able to follow their favourite elite netball players, keep up to date with news from across the country at all levels and find out how they can enjoy netball, in a way that suits them, both on and off the court effortlessly.

“There are still some exciting things to come on the site that we are working on and investing in so be sure to watch this space, but for now we hope people enjoy exploring our new website.”

The launch comes just seven months after England Netball delivered its brand new Vitality Netball Superleague website alongside Sotic, which was created to improve how fans digest and follow all of the news surrounding the league.

Jonathan McConnell, Head of Digital Delivery at Sotic, commented: “The website has been designed and built to meet the strategic goals of England Netball. At Sotic this is how we develop platforms that will deliver tangible results for our clients whether that’s around increasing participation, capturing data or perhaps providing opportunities online to drive revenue from commercial partners.

“We’ve listened closely to England Netball, and its stakeholders, to develop a digital platform which places the needs of the user at the heart of its layout, design and functionality. We look forward to continuing to work with England Netball to roll out new features in the weeks and months ahead.”

England Netball’s ticketing service, which is delivered by SecuTix and was last year brought in house, is now fully integrated into the organisation’s new website making buying tickets for major netball events, for instance the upcoming Vitality Netball Superleague Season Opener in February, much easier.
