England Netball offers two pathways to become accredited as an Officiating Tutor which can found here. If you are a qualified Teacher/Lecturer or hold a recognised Tutoring qualification* from Industry you can undergo two observations to become accredited. The observations will be used to assess your knowledge and understanding of Netball Umpiring and your delivery skills.
England Netball also works in partnership with 1st4Sport to offer the Award in Delivering Learning (ADL) which will provide you with a nationally recognised tutoring qualification (transferable to other sports) to deliver the following England Netball courses;
- England Netball Into Officiating
- Netball Europe C Award
- Netball Europe B Award
Learners will attend a 2 day training course covering 7 modules which include;
- The Tutor
- Delivering a Micro Teaching session
- The Learner
- Facilitation Skills
- Qualification and Portfolio
- Managing and Assessing Learners
- Delivering a Teaching Session
Following the course Trainee Tutors will be required to attend an assessment follow up day where they will deliver a session from the recognised Netball Europe Officiating Competencies. Trainee Tutors will also be required to act as learners for other Trainee Tutors during the day.
Following the assessment day Qualified ADL Tutors will work with a County or Regional Lead Tutor to complete a modular sign off and observation sheet over a minimum of two courses (either Into Officiating or C Award). If deemed competent by the Lead Tutor they will be added to the England Netball list of approved Officiating Tutors.
The England Netball Officiating Tutor Pathway is also open to those individuals who hold qualified teaching status or equivalent awards from other sports or from industry. Qualified individuals will be required to follow the same modular sign off and observation process as above to be added to the England Netball list of approved Officiating Tutors.
