Premier Romans, Hatfield Hawks and Leyton will compete in Premier League 3 in the 2024-25 season after winning the Play-Offs.
After a fantastic weekend of netball action at the EIS Sheffield, the three sides emerged victorious after some impressive performances and close scorelines.
In Group A, Premier Romans battled hard to retain their position in Premier League 3 after finishing eighth in the regular 2023-24 season.
They started the competition strong on day one, sealing a four-goal win over Hyde Park (58 – 54) and a nail-biting five-goal victory over Deeside (45-50). However, the confident win over Team Jets on day two (47-70) secured their position at the top of the group, going three from three wins.
The side then faced DNC Netball, who came second in their group after a thrilling 46-46 draw with Swan Netball Club. However, Premier Romans were victorious, taking a 61-39 win to seal their place in Premier League 3 next season.
Familiar territory for Hatfield Hawks after competing in last year’s Play-Offs, this year, the team capitalised on the opportunity to move up from the East regional league.
Like Premier Romans, Hatfield Hawks had a clean sweep in their group; a close match-up on day one against Dudley Leisure NC, saw Hatfield Hawks take the win by two points (45-43). However, this set them up to see off Leyton in the afternoon (43-55) and similarly, Riverside NC on day two (52-61), sealing the top spot in Group B.
Although, the final round was no easy ride. In a true showdown style, the East regional winners faced the North West regional winners, Deeside, and both teams battled until the final minute. However, with sheer willpower, Hatfield Hawks emerged victorious with an incredible two-goal win (49-47) to confirm their promotion to Premier League 3.
A similar story to last year’s Play-Offs, Leyton fought hard to retain their place in Premier League 3. On day one, they secured a narrow win over Riverside NC (46-44), however, later they lost out to Hatfield Hawks (43-55), who ended up topping Group B.
This seemed to fire Leyton up for day two, as they took a confident win against Dudley Leisure NC (66-53). Their determination continued through the final round as they secured a superb 45-56 victory over Swan Netball Club to retain their spot in Premier League 3.
