'Roses Down Under' - Housby inspires Swifts to end Francis-Bayman's Fever's unbeaten run

Round Nine of Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) took place over the weekend, with the ANZ Premiership entering its twelfth round, and there were plenty of Vitality Roses involved across both competitions Down Under.

Helen Housby powered NSW Swifts to a memorable 66-65 win against previously unbeaten West Coast Fever on Sunday.

The Vitality Rose’s three ‘Super Shots’ in the third quarter played a huge role in swaying the match in Swifts’ favour to topple Stacey Francis-Bayman’s Fever and send her side top, with Nat Haythornthwaite an unused substitute.

Geva Mentor couldn’t prevent Collingwood Magpies from going down 62-54 at Adelaide Thunderbirds in Sunday’s second match.

The round ended in disappointment for Jo Harten’s GIANTS Netball as were beaten 63-52 at Queensland Firebirds.

The England legend wasn’t as effective in the circle as she normally as GIANTS suffered a third defeat in four matches.

In the ANZ Premiership, George Fisher made her return to court and helped Southern Steel clinch a 56-54 win at Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic on Monday.

Fisher suffered a knock to the head a couple of weeks ago and she played the entire third quarter, as well as six minutes in the final quarter, finishing with 17 goals from 19 attempts.

Elsewhere, 2018 Commonwealth Games champion Ama Agbeze came on for the final quarter to help Northern Mystics close out a 69-61 victory against Northern Stars.
