The Vitality Roses are ready and raring for Round Six of Super Netball over the weekend.
Helen Housby and Natalie Haythornthwaite (NSW Swifts) will go head-to-head with international teammate Geva Mentor (Collingwood Magpies) to kick start the latest set of fixtures.
Housby was selected in the Team of the Round after a strong performance, including five Super Shots, in Swifts’ midweek victory over Queensland Firebirds
Mentor’s Magpies were beaten 52-60 by Adelaide Thunderbirds and will be aiming to register their second win of the campaign.
West Coast Fever take on bottom of the table Queensland Firebirds in Round Six after a 59-68 loss to Melbourne Vixens last time out.
Stacey Francis’ side had their moments last time out but as committed as they were, they never recovered from Vixens’ dominant first quarter and will be out to make a stronger start to this weekend’s match.
Jo Harten’s GIANTS face a tough test against top-of-the-table Melbourne Vixens, who have lost just once this season – that defeat came in Round Four against Adelaide Thunderbirds, with Layla Guscoth, Chelsea Pitman and Kate Shimmin all featuring.
GIANTS will be looking to bounce back from their narrow midweek defeat to Sunshine Coast Lightning.
After defender Kristiana Manu’a was sent off for rough play, Harten’s side were forced to contest the final 12 minutes with only six players and missed two Super Shots in the dying seconds.
The final match of the round sees Adelaide Thunderbirds looking to build on their Round Five victory over Collingwood Magpies as they go head-to-head with second-place Sunshine Coast Lightning.
After notching up 52 feeds and 26 goal assists, Thunderbirds’ co-captain Pitman was named Player of the Match as well as being included in the Team of the Round and will be determined to put in another influential display.
