England Netball

England Netball is delighted to announce the first set of nominees for the 2017 Vitality Netball Superleague Awards, which will be presented for the first time at the illustrious Goalden Globes Awards.

Coach of the Season (voted for by teams)

Karen Atkinson – Atkinson’s years of hard work, dedication and squad building since taking over as Loughborough Lightning head coach in August 2014 came to fruition with the club enjoying their most successful season ever in 2017. Lightning topped the table at the end of the regular season and lost just one game.

Tamsin Greenway – Greenway guided Wasps Netball to the Vitality Netball Superleague title in the club’s inaugural season – her third consecutive title after back-to-back victories with Surrey Storm. The former England international even took to the court herself over the course of the campaign and proved she’s still got it.

Karen Greig – Greig is Manchester Thunder through and through. She successfully made the step up from assistant coach and handled the challenge of an exodus of players in the off-season to lead the Black and Yellows to an impressive third-place finish in both the regular season and the Grand Final.

Umpire of the Season (voted for by the VNSL Umpire Assessors)

After all their hard work and commitment in maintaining the highest officiating standards this season, the three nominees are: Gary Burgess, Jackie Mizon and Louise Travis.

The winners will be announced on Saturday 16th September at the National Conference Centre, Birmingham.
