Trafford, Northants Storm and Eagles secure promotion to Premier League 3

Trafford Netball Club, Northants Storm Netball Club and Eagles Netball Club will compete in Premier League 3 in the 2022/2023 season after winning promotion in the play-offs.

Eagles, who were crowned South regional champions, have successfully made the step up at the 7th time of asking after an unbeaten weekend.

A 57-24 win over Eclipse, who finished 9th in Premier League 3, saw them make a strong start, going on to win matches against Northants Storm and Wimborne Aquarians and finish top of Group C.

They then came up against Clan, who finished 8th in Premier League 3, and secured an impressive 66-32 victory to gain a place in the Premier League.

Trafford also completed a perfect weekend, topping Group B after beating Hi-Tech (57-44), Clan (51-38) and Hatfield Hawks (60-37).

The North West regional champions then faced North East regional champions Riverside Netball Club and won (68-52), now making them the fourth North West team in the Premier League (alongside Oldham, Tameside and YWCA Bury in Premier League 1).

Northants Storm finished second in Group C with two wins (68-39 vs. Wimborne Aquarians and 55-27 vs. Eclipse) and one defeat (35-62 vs. Eagles).

The East Midlands regional winners then faced London & South East regional winners Poly Netball Club in the final play-off game, who had finished top of Group A.

Northants Storm qualified for the Premier League Playoffs in 2020, but due to COVID-19 and no play-off competition, they missed their chance to make the Premier League. Therefore, this final game marked a pivotal point for the team.

After a closely fought competition, Northants Storm proved too strong for Poly Netball Club, securing a 56-51 win and a spot in Premier League 3.
