Athletes selected for England U21 squad for 2021

26 athletes have been selected for the U21 squad for 2021 by newly appointed Head Coach Victoria Burgess and Assistant Coach Colette Thomson.

As well as being Roses Academy U17 Head Coach since 2018, Burgess is Head of Loughborough Lightning’s Performance Pathway Programme and was Assistant Coach to Sara Bayman as Lightning recently won their first-ever Vitality Netball Superleague title.

Thomson brings a wealth of experience coaching at all levels of the game to the role, including helping the Vitality Roses on their journey to win gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Discussing her new role in the England Netball set-up, Burgess said: “I am very excited to be appointed as the U21 Head Coach.

“The athletes have all put in a lot of hard work to be selected into the programme and have shown outstanding commitment and resilience to adapt to the different environments in this time.

“We saw some standout performances from players in this age group in the 2021 Vitality Netball Superleague season, displaying leadership and a maturity beyond their years.

“I can’t wait to work with such a talented group of athletes, as well as their club coaches, and use my knowledge and experience to support their development.”
