Young Volunteers - Nominees

The 2016 Goalden Globe Awards are tomorrow and we’re excited to share with you our FINAL category!

The winners from each category will be named this coming Saturday 17th September at a glittering ceremony in Droitwich Spa – and this week we’ve been showcasing the nominees.

The 2016 categories include:

It’s now the turn of the Young Volunteers Award – read below to hear all the fabulous work these volunteers do for our sport:

Young Volunteers

Zoe Kidson

Reliable and committed, Zoe is an assistant coach at her school and club, has sourced funding from the local council, she also umpires and all this whilst studying for her GCSE’s. She is described as a role model for younger players.

Jemma Youens

Jemma is an UNO at the University of Essex, during which time she has doubled the numbers attending inter-house Netball, helped sourced funding for 11 girls to become Coaches and Officials and has worked tirelessly to promote Netball to fellow students.

Lucy Garner

Lucy proves that Netball is not just for elite players. She is a valued and integral Club volunteer. Lucy is not a passenger in the world of Netball. She is helping to conduct and drive in whatever way she can. She completed 122 hours of volunteering within 18 months, officiating, coaching and as Guard of Honour and Ball Patrol at International Test Series. It’s hard to believe she has only just turned 15.

Lauren Cook

Lauren is a fantastic role model she is a qualified C Award Umpire and is due to take her level-1 Coaching Award as soon as she turns 16.  She is commited and dedicated to helping others achieve their Netball goals. She coaches within her school, club and satellite coaching sessions as well as many other things

Abigail Blythe

Abigail is an assistant Coach and Umpire for her Netball Club and County, she also supports Netball in Schools and umpires at the Junior Netball League. She has volunteered at Car Fest and was a Ball Girl and part of the Guard of Honour at recent England matches and Super Saturday, and Yes, she is only 15.

Emily Goss

Emily coaches, umpires, undertakes Team Manager roles for Mid Sussex Netball Club and Oak Meads Community College. She has racked up over 150 hours of volunteering and is described as committed, adaptable and enthusiastic.

Eli Richardson

Eli is a Young Ambassador, Assistant Coach for Recycles Netball Club and School Coach. She also volunteers at Superleague and International Matches. With maturity beyond her years and engaging humility Eli is described as the lynch-pin within her school and club commitments.

Anna Blake

Anna mentors the young players within her club, assisting them with playing, umpiring and coaching. Described as a terrific role model and inspiration to all those who come into contact with her. She is an Assistant Coach and looking forward to turning 18 when she can take her Level-2 Coaching Course.

Elly Stonebridge

Elly umpires in 2 Leagues and also at her school where she can be found helping to coach. She also coaches for her local club. Her passion for the sport has had a massive impact, inspiring more girls to get involved with volunteering, attend courses and trials.

Taylor Throw

Taylor volunteers to help both within her netball club and beyond in many capacities, she is now a qualified level 2 coach and is working towards her C award Umpire qualification. In addition to coaching and umpiring she has also helped develop and update a new club website.

Congratulations to all of these volunteers for their respective nominations and thank you for all the amazing work you do.
